The Var is a favourite destination for a relaxing break that is also full of fun things to do by the sea. Provence is a magical place to spend the weekend or several weeks. Take a look at the many wonderful things there are to do and see near the Résidence du Bailli, the ideal place to stay for a super family holiday in the Var.
The azure Mediterranean, fine sandy beaches, non-stop leisure activities… your family holiday in the Var promises to be an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful Rayol beach, just next to the Résidence du Bailli, in itself captures all the beauty of the Var landscape. Canadel beach, on the opposite side of the rocks, will delight anyone looking for a spot where the natural world is given free rein.
Le Lavandou is blessed with 12 splendid sandy beaches extending over 12 km of coastline, including Saint Clair, also known as Le Perle, which is highly prized by families in particular. Facing east, this beautiful expanse of sand is magnificent at the break of day when the sun brings a sparkle to the sea. Cavalière beach, on the other hand, is the favourite destination of sporty types. With its sailing school, numerous activities (parasailing, water skiing, jet skiing, etc.) and splendid landscape, it’s a beach with a lot to offer.
For anyone who loves cultural sites, picture-postcard villages and sublime white sandy beaches, it’s well worth lingering for the day on the island of Porquerolles. The shuttles run by Vedettes Îles d’Or and Le Corsaire will ensure you enjoy a pleasant crossing. Once you’re on the island, take a stroll with the family, or a bike ride, to visit Fort Sainte-Agathe and the Carmignac Foundation… or simply relax on the superb Argent beach.
In Saint Tropez, don’t miss the Citadel and the Ponche, not to mention the legendary port with its yachts and sailboats. The Chartreuse de la Verne in the heart of the Massif des Maures looks forward to seeing you, together with the pretty village of Collobrières. In Saint-Maximin, visit the huge basilica, the largest Gothic building in all Provence. And back in Rayol Canadel, the Jardin des Méditerranées at the Domaine du Rayol is quite a spectacle for the senses that will thrill walkers of all ages.
The range of leisure activities on offer during your family holiday in the Var will delight young and old alike. Here are some of the fun things to do in the Var which are sure to wow the whole family.
The mild weather in the Var means it’s the ideal setting for water parks. The department is home to several Aqualands (the one in Fréjus is the largest water park on the entire Côte d’Azur), leisure centres, water sports centres and lakes equipped with games and various inflatables.
If nature outings are more your thing, the Gorges du Verdon are one of the not-to-be-missed visits during a family holiday in the Var. Set in the heart of the department, this staggering site consists of natural lakes opening onto the much-vaunted Grand Canyon. You’ll find outdoor games and water sports for children here, not to mention canoes, kayaks and small electric boats you can rent to explore the Grand Canyon up close.
And you can enjoy the sea every day, taking part in activities you’ll never forget: boat trips, paddleboarding, pedal boating, kayaking, scuba diving, looking at the cetacean life, windsurfing… the list is as long as it is diverse!
