Hiking in the Var

The 187 km-long Var coastal path passes through Le Rayol Canadel, meaning you can join it at the exit of your residence, since it’s about 50 meters from the beach. The sign-posted trail runs along the coast through an extraordinary seascape, and it will be up to you to choose your itinerary according to the time you have available.

If you take the monumental staircase located at sea level in Le Rayol, you’ll be able to reach the top of the Rocher du Drapeau 300 meters above. Here you’ll discover the Maures forest, the maquis and unique species with a 360° view from the summit. This hike can be done in under two hours, and it makes a pleasant outing early in the morning, before the weather turns hot.

For more seasoned walkers, there are some very nice loops you can do around Le Rayol and under 10 km away. From the Belvédère de la Louve to the Balcons de Pramousquier, there are nearly 17 different captivating itineraries – more than enough to bring joy to even the most dedicated hiking aficionados among you!

Finally, how could we fail to mention the Jardin des Méditerranées? Located just a few hundred meters from your accommodation, the gardens extend over an area of 20 ha in a protected natural setting. Above all, exploring the gardens is a thrilling experience. It’s more of a short hike combined with a nice long walk, but is very pleasant nevertheless.

Le Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer is a magical place, set against the backdrop of the Corniche des Maures, which plunges into the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean at the foot of the Résidence du Bailli opposite the Iles d’Or. It’s an ideal spot for going hiking throughout the year.
